The School of Labour Studies, McMaster University (full-time tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor)

The School of Labour Studies invites applications for a full-time tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor commencing July 1, 2019.   Labour Studies is an interdisciplinary program, resident in the Faculty of Social Sciences, which includes Anthropology, Economics, Health, Geography and Earth Sciences, Globalization and the Human Condition, Health, Aging & Society, Indigenous Studies, Political Science, Religious Studies, Social Work and Sociology. Labour Studies offers a full range of undergraduate degrees, an MA and a PhD in Labour Studies and has established educational and research links with labour and community groups As an interdisciplinary subject area, Labour Studies focuses on all forms of work (paid and unpaid), labour agency, and links the work experience with gender and sexuality, racialization, state regulation, labour markets, health and safety, environment, aging, family life, the community, technology and globalization. Responsibilities will include undergraduate and graduate teaching and supervision of graduate students as well as building links with community and labour groups. The successful candidate will be expected to attract research funds and carry out an independent research program leading to peer-reviewed publications. Candidates should have an interdisciplinary approach to studies in work, labour and society and must have a PhD in a relevant discipline.
